REVIEWS
Scott Wilson has the uncanny ability to appeal to our hearts and our wallets simultaneously, driving home the importance of supporting the MND charity. His engagement with the audience is simply phenomenal. His enthusiasm is infectious, and you couldn’t help but feel the excitement building as the auction items went up for bidding. And speaking of the auction, wow, he worked wonders, his clever banter, witty comebacks, and playful teasing had everyone eagerly bidding on the items. The energy in the room was amazing, and the funds raised were beyond our expectations—thanks in no small part to our fabulous speaker.
It’s not every day that you find a speaker who can effortlessly make you laugh until your sides hurt while rallying an entire room behind a cause. Scott is truly a one-of-a-kind gem, and we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have had Scott back for a second year.
To sum it up, this extraordinary individual has a heart of gold, a knack for humour, and the charisma to inspire generosity from even the most frugal of bidders. We can confidently say that his involvement in our charity event made a significant difference in the lives of those we support.
Thank you Scott for making our event a roaring success and for supporting the cause we hold so dear.
Scott is a highly professional and top rated host. He has delivered a hugely professional service to Erskine as a host, auctioneer and quiz hoist. Scott keeps the guests engaged and entertained at all times and will follow a script and adapt as required for the audience.
Scott’s high level of skill and professionalism can engage with people from a variety of backgrounds and he will always judge the exact pitch of the evening.
Scott is quite simply a joy to work with and I cannot recommend him enough for hosting any events. Scott thrives in a fast-paced environment and works easily within any teams required for an event.
The Management Committee of the Scottish Football Association Referees (Edinburgh & District) were in discussion surrounding the format in terms of our upcoming Annual Awards Dinner to be held on the 10th September 2022, and when the subject of whether to have an after dinner speaker and master of ceremonies (MC) was raised, it was decided that for the first time in our long history of holding such event that we would opt for the MC only.
This was an extra special occasion, as not only was it the first since 2019 because of Covid 19 but also the first that we could appropriately acknowledge the sad passing on the13th May 2019 of George Smith our esteemed Honorary President, FIFA Referee representing
Scotland at the World Cup in 1990, Referee Committee member and renowned Referee Observer. It as paramount that evening would hit the right spot for all invited guests primarily George’s widow and her family.
Possible names were discussed but as soon as Scott Wilson’s name was mentioned, I had no hesitation in recommending to the committee that it was an excellent idea to seek the services of Scott. Having known Scott in his capacity as announcer at Heart of Midlothian FC for many years in addition to other events I was in no doubt whatsoever that he was the right person to deal with a mixed audience of varying age groups.
We were not disappointed: Scott did not only do an enormous amount of homework / researching in terms of all the recipients on the evening but demonstrated his people skills, empathy, and passion with all who were fortunate to receive an award. Every individual attending expressed an opinion that we should book Scott on an annual basis such was his professionalism and humour to match the audience. A special thanks was expressed by Georg’s widow (Pamela) when she said with passion, “George would have loved the evening and the very clever and witty Scott” and this is of significance having listened to George’s opinion of speakers over many years prior
I can think of nothing better than to replicate the words used by Pamela and I do not hesitate in recommending Scott for any event that you are thinking of organising.
Scott is a true professional in every sense of the word and a fine gentleman. This is not only my opinion but that of the entire committee of the EDRA who had the pleasure of his professionalism at our recent dinner.
Scott hosted a whisky tasting for the Royal Company of Merchants of The City of Edinburgh where our Members enjoyed a highly enjoyable and informative evening tasting a variety of whiskies. With Scott’s easy-going, well-researched and engaging presentation he talked us through the life story of whisky from grain to glass. He said at the start that this was a ‘whisky tasting for people who don’t like whisky’ and indeed, with tutoring on how to properly taste a whisky and what to look for, this turned out to be the result.
Most of all, the Members enjoyed Scott’s friendly banter and even with a large audience, he managed to go round all the tables and chat to everyone and share some whisky stories. Whilst very educational, it was most of all a fun evening and at the end of the evening, everyone was very happy in all senses of the word. The feedback from the attendees was extremely positive and I’m sure Scott will be invited back to the Mechant Hall again soon for another tasting. Highly recommended!
Having worked with Scott over many years he is my go to man in his field. Professional and easy to work with Scott has that quintessential working class Scottish voice that is loved the world over.
When our home town of Stranraer introduced to Scotland its first ever oyster festival, the intention was to do everything best of the best. As chairman of the Stranraer Development Trust who created and delivered the incredible festival, I had been fortunate to have experienced Scott Wilson in full flow on many occasions, be that at magnificent Xmas parties, his own charitable golf day when we had no choice but to listen to him, or most famously as the heart and soul of Heart of Midlothian FC. Scott was the man and the voice the trust decided on and even 3 years on, whenever this time of the year comes round, every member of the board to a man and woman, ask for Scott to be approached.
That evening he presented our incredible Big Oyster Bash on the ice-rink at an hotel in town, the entire sell-out audience was taken aback at his delivery, his obliging manner and his professionalism. An easy enough example of his worth would be the high-class auction we present which is critical to our longevity- in comparison to the shows either side of the one Scott hosted in 2018 he made five times the cash of the others!
We may have to juggle the entertainment and the celebrity chefs every year, but if we could nail Mr Wilson down on a 100 year contract, he would be the voice of Stranraer Oyster Festival forever!
Derek and I would like to thank you for an amazing and memorable night for our wedding reception. You’re voice was crystal clear and so recognisable and with great banter with the guests! You’re so unbeatable and would recommend you highly. All the guests said it was the best wedding reception they’ve ever been to thanks to you… Can’t thank you enough.

We approached Scott as we were looking to add an entertaining and enlightening whisky tasting experience for an international audience at our client event at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh.
It worked out better than we could have hoped for and Scott’s whisky tasting station was the most popular area of our entire event with much fun, laughter and dare I say it, some brand new whisky drinkers!
I would not hesitate to engage Scott and his team of experts again and indeed look forward to doing so.
Scott was our (master of ceremonies?) and DJ at our wedding and really we couldn’t have wished for anyone better. It contributed so much to our fantastic day. Scott even took time to meet my husband and I before the big day to learn a little knowledge about our family members at the top table so that he could add something personal before introducing them for the speeches. It was such a special touch which was loved by all our guests and it added a lot of humour to the day. He brought such warmth to our wedding day and couldn’t recommend anyone better thank Scott.
Thanks again for being a part of our special day it was a real honour to have you!

Scott is an Edinburgh boy who is fiercely proud of his roots and loves his home city and country. Scott got the break his talent deserved when he began his radio career with Radio Clyde in 1988. 2 years later he moved to his home town station Radio Forth where he spent 16 years presenting a variety of radio shows from Drivetime to Breakfast and everything in between. Scott then moved to the fledgling Talk 107 in 2006 and thereafter acted as a cover presenter on BBC Radio Scotland for Fred Macauley and Kaye Adams.
